MIGRANT MEDIA NETWORK FIELD GUIDE KIT

The #MMN Social Media & Migration Field Guide kit is designed to help individuals engaged in providing training and counseling to prospective migrants. It has been created to work for experienced and novice trainers alike.

The #MMN Field Guide Kit consists of many resources, all created to help potential migrants clarify their goals and make informed migration decisions.

These resources include:

The A4 Field Guide Handout provides trainers with detailed information and questions designed to help trainers lead successful roundtable discussions and fruitful conversations on topics ranging from regular and irregular migration, setting SMART goals, tactics smugglers and human traffickers use on social media, to opportunities for education and employment at home.

A1 game: Think carefully, move safely, a role-playing game that fosters experiential learning.

13 A6 cards: The Truth or Lie? cards are part of the game and are designed to have the players engage in discussions while playing the game. Trainers can also use these cards to break participants into smaller groups and have them discuss the questions on the cards.

The Field Guide is one part of Migrant Media Network’s overall initiative, which aims to assist people in making informed choices about migration by:

  • Engaging members of the Ghanaian diaspora in social media sensitization.
  • Providing offline tools to disseminate information in remote regions of Ghana.
  • Creating a network of trainers throughout Ghana.
  • Mitigating propaganda, hate speech, and misinformation on social media.
  • Enabling an informed decision-making process in regard to migration to Europe.
