An opportunity was given to the participants to introduce themselves. Thereon\, the team enlightened participants on the overall goal and objectives of the MMN project. The topic of the day kicked started the conversation “Strategies used by Human Traffickers and opportunities at home and Europe”. After the event participants were aware of the dangers of irregular migrations\, Schemes\, and tricks used by human smugglers and also How to identify\,  mitigate\, misinformation\, disinformation\, and fake rumors about Europe.

DESCRIPTION: \n \n  \nMigration among the youth in the Northern Region of Ghana continues to be a risk to the future workforce of the Region. It is important for youth to set goals from time to time\, everyone experiences difficulty getting started on the path to success. Each of us has a unique set of strengths that help us\, as well as challenges that hinder us on the way. Goal setting helps us separate our strengths from weaknesses and make realistic plans for improving our lives. Goal setting provides focus and context to a mentor pair. \nOn the 5th of November\, 2021. 30 participants from the University for Development Studies were engaged in a Stammtisch. The Stammtisch was made possible with a proper community entry which was done through the Student Representative Council. After our meeting with the Executives\, we met the youth participants where an introduction was made. (Rhoda Wedam) The Local Coordinator went further to introduce the MMN project to the participants. She highlighted the major activities of the project and its operational areas to give the participants more information about the MMN Project. The topic for discussion was on planning the journey specifically on helping the participants to define smart goals for migration.

DESCRIPTION: \n \n  \nOn the 5th of October\, 2021\, our second Stammtisch was held with young women of 4 training Centers in Tamale. The purpose of these young women is to address some of the social issues that motivate them to migrate. This Stammtisch was facilitated by Madam Humaimatu (Director at the National Vocational Institute) and Hajia Halimatu Sagito (Director of SWIDA Ghana). These facilitators are well-trained personalities who focus on training women in addressing social issues that affect their lives. Wedam Rhoda\, the local coordinator for the MMN project in Tamale gave the welcome address to the participants and encouraged them to actively participate in the Stammtisch so as to get themselves well informed about the social issues that are affecting the lives of women and motivate them to migrate. \n

DESCRIPTION: \n  \n   \nCareer guidance and counselling for fresh graduates/national service personnel in Ghana. The goal of the programme was to mentor young people to develop the awareness and capacities to chart their career paths\, identify and overcome the despairs of false information and to do it right if they need to travel abroad. \nReason being; The period of graduation from a tertiary institution\, the commencement and completion of national service mark an important transition into the ‘real world’ and candidates are at that state often uncertain about their future and vulnerable to falling prey to false claims of greener pastures through various channels. The situation has worsened. The graduates find no jobs or seem hopeless and frustrated about their future. In consequence\, they are more likely to: \n– Become victims of illegal migration through false migration information preached by fraudsters\, among others via social media\, the traditional media\, and various platforms \n– Become ‘tools’ or channels for promoting violence in any form that threaten peaceful coexistence among people \n– Untap their potentials for the greater good \nUnfortunately\, beyond the passing of examinations\, the school system fails to provide the necessary training/guidance  to students about their future career options and how to excel in the contemporary world. \n

DESCRIPTION: \n  \n \n\n\n\n\nOn Saturday 24th July\, 2021\, a request  made from the Hong Kong citizens\, (In House Residents) working with at  Sunon Asogli  Energy Power Plant Ghana Limited  at Kpone – Tema. The team donated books\, 1 laptop and 1 iPad to the Salo JHS in the Anlo District. The initiative was a requested by James J. Oboade\, #MMN local co-ordinator for the Volta and Accra\, and was solicited by Nana Ofei Asamani who is the partner and consultant to Sunon Asogli  Energy Power Plant Ghana limited. This proved that #MMN’s presence in the community has something to do with supporting the local communities to develop perception for change. \nWe also aim for searching and collaborating with more other individuals and companies to support the local communities as well. As LC for #MMN I also used the occasion to introduce the USSD code to the population for their migration choices.

DESCRIPTION: \n  \n \n  \nThe Stammtisch was on the Topic “Migration Decision” it was held on Tuesday 20th July 2021 at KOSSI’s Fashion centre  in the Anloga  district in the volta Region. The Stammtisch was organised to encourage the youths (young women and men) to take the Skills acquisition seriously and to be insightful of what they are learning. And to take SMART Decision concerning migration\, while discouranging the irregular migration option. From the #defyhatenow’ field-guide topic (migration Decision) the participants were openly interactive with answers to question as most of them have some experiences about dangers/risks involved from narratives. James introduced the #MMN_ussd code and the THINK Carefully MOVE SAFELY GAME as well. \n
